DREAMS COME TRUE

Image
Sometimes I get ideas for food in my dreams and just when I have my eyes shut in a peaceful and restful place. If you were born here in Ghana with superstitious Ghanaian parents or family members, you will know that it’s apparently not a good thing to have dreams of you eating or anything along that line. I don’t know for the people who have dreams of eating with their dead grandmothers and stuff (I think it’s scary)More often than not, when I see or think about something for the better part of the day, ideas about it just rush into my head as soon as I shut eyes to either rest, nap or just sleep. So if you find it weird that I kind of dreamt this meal up in my semi-conscious state (aka early afternoon rest) on Saturday wait till you taste it and I am pretty sure you will have a change of mind.  DREAMY YAMS   Ingredients ½  a small tuberYam 1 pound minced meat or whole beef Pepper 2 Garlic 1 Onion 2  tomatoes 2 Green peppers Salt 2 Garden eggs (optional) Oil Met...

POTATO NAMELESS

It’s been soo long since I posted that I am wondering if I've not lost my followers. I had a really busy week so it was straight to bed after work and I didn't even have the chance to look at my blog. This past weekend I made a big pie. To be honest the filling was great but the crust I must confess was a bit too dry and crumbly. I have to try again and get the right combination to get the perfect pie crust before I can post the recipe. Till then I will leave you with this meal I made for my dad on Saturday he emptied his plate so i am guessing he enjoyed it and I hope you are also going to enjoy it. The only problem is that I don't have a brilliant name for it so lets call it Potato nameless for the mean time Ingredients Minced meat (frozen) 5 medium sized Potatoes Garlic Onions 2 Green pepper 1 Small Cabbage 2 Carrots Butter 1 tablespoon Tomato puree 3 tablespoon Honey Salt Worcestershire (optional) Black pepper Method ·          Scrub...

TEA DOES NOT HAVE TO BE BORING

LEMON HONEY TEA Tea bag Honey Lemon Water 1.        Bring a pot of water to the boil and add tea bags depending on the strength of the brew you want 2.        Allow tea to sit in water for about five mins 3.        Wash lemon carefully and cut one slice with the rind per tea cup 4.        Drop lemon slice into teacup, squeeze some lemon juice into the cup, pour some honey in there (according to your taste) 5.        Bring tea to the boil again and pour over lemon and honey in tea cup 6.        Serve hot NB: One small size lemon may be enough for a small tea cup, for a bigger mug, a large lemon may suffice

BREAKFAST WITH A SMILE

Image
Today we are going to try something I did for breakfast on Sunday morning. For some strange reason, I woke up at 4:00am and I just couldn’t go back to bed so went to the hall and watched some TV. Interestingly, “License to grill” was up and it was playing back to back episodes for about two hours. I watched the guy grill some turkey, lamb, beef tenderloin, scallops, shrimps and making some cool sandwiches, I started to feel hungry. So like a zombie, I walked into the kitchen determined to eat the first thing I see. Unfortunately, the first thing I saw was salt, then I saw garlic and you would have to be something strange to make anything out of salt and garlic.  Then just when I was about to give up and go for some biscuits from the fridge, I saw it ................ CORNED BEEF!!!! The sandwiches and grilled meat from the TV just came back in mind, then I got it, we were going to have what I now call BEEF DROP SANDWICH for breakfast. ENJOY! BEEF DROP SANDWICH   Ingredient...

Well the Holidays finally came to an end... It seemed kind of short but for me I think this Christmas and New Year win the award for "THE MOST UNEVENTFUL HOLIDAYS EVER" Christmas was a bore, I slept through New Year's eve and entered the New Year in sweet slumber. No Countdown for me and No 'on the second' happy new year calls. I entered the year in the most UNdramatic way. The up side of all this is that, I got to do a whole lot of cooking and I really enjoyed them. Hope you have fun trying them out.                                                                           Miss Nana
